Thousands of SSC aspirants and well-known teachers from across India have taken to the streets in protest, raising their voice against what they call “serious mismanagement” in the ongoing SSC Selection Post Phase 13 examination process. The exams, held between July 24 and August 1, 2025, have become the centre of nationwide controversy, with students calling it a “systemic failure that’s costing their future.”
What Triggered the Protest?
It all started with sudden and unannounced cancellations of exams at multiple centres. Students who had travelled hundreds of kilometres—many spending from their savings on travel, accommodation, and meals—reached their centres only to be told, “Your exam is cancelled.” There was no prior SMS, no email—just confusion, chaos, and a deep sense of betrayal.
What added fuel to the fire was the technical failure and mismanagement during the exams. From system crashes, faulty biometric setups, wrongly allotted centres, to non-functional computers—students faced it all. Many believe this chaos began after the SSC switched to a new exam vendor. According to aspirants, this new vendor was “not ready to handle even a small-scale exam, let alone something as big as SSC.”
From Exam Halls to Jantar Mantar: A Movement Begins
Fed up with repeated issues, students gave a call for “Delhi Chalo” and gathered at Jantar Mantar and the CGO Complex in Delhi. Leading educators and influencers from the competitive exam space joined in. However, the peaceful protest soon took a dark turn when, according to videos circulating online, police allegedly resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.
One student said, “We weren’t violent. We were just holding placards asking for fairness.” Another added, “We lost money, time, and peace of mind. The least we deserve is an apology and a solution.”
Demands from Students and Teachers
The demands are clear:
- Immediate cancellation of the vendor contract.
- A transparent investigation into SSC’s exam handling.
- Compensation or re-exam options for affected candidates.
- Government intervention to ensure future exams are fairly conducted.
With over 30 lakh candidates set to appear in future SSC exams like those for Income Tax and other government posts, trust in the system is wearing thin. “Even a minute in such exams matters,” said one candidate. “When systems crash mid-exam, it’s not just time we lose—it’s hope.”
Social Media Roars in Support
Social media has become the loudest protest ground. Hashtags like #SSCMisManagement, #SSCVendorFailure, #JusticeForAspirants, and #SSCSystemSudharo are trending across platforms. Videos showing malfunctioning systems, chaotic centres, and emotional students are going viral by the hour.
This protest isn’t just about one exam—it’s about a broken system. A system that, according to students and teachers alike, urgently needs reform before it costs another batch of aspirants their dreams.
